I forgot to mention that last year the Dept Of Energy released new guidelines for manufacturers and retailers to label their display units in the showroom to ensure that prospective buyers are made aware of the energy star option at the time of purchase. So in other words, if the dealer has a sample window on display that doesn't have the proper upgrades to qualify it as energy star rated, there must be a sticker on the display that indicates to the consumer that an energy star qualified version of that product is available. If the sample on display has the proper components to qualify it as energy star, the sticker will state that the standard version of that product is energy star rated. That way, a less than ethical dealer can't lead you to believe that he or she is selling the same product as the dealer down the street at a much better price, when, in fact, he is selling you a window with plain glass and his competitor is selling his window with LowE Glass, making the competitor's product energy star rated and his is not. If you go to the Energy Star website, you can find more information in the manufacturer and retailer resources section.
