HOW TO
INSTALL WINDOWS
[How to install windows]

If you replace old windows for a living, you have probably been taught that you must remove the entire frame of the existing window before nailing the new window into the opening. In order to do this, you generally have to cut away the exterior material in order to expose the old nailing fin and nails. Many times you will also need to do damage to the inside sheetrock as well. That means that you have to spend time repairing the interior and exterior of the opening after you have installed the new window. I have heard that some installers leave it up to the homeowner to find someone to repair the damaged interior and exterior. What if you could charge your customers less than your competition and get the job done in half the time with little or no mess? Well, you can. If you leave the existing nail frame in place, you can retrofit the window and then add trim to enclose the old frame. The only negative aspect of this type of replacement is the loss of opening space by about 2-3 inches. If you were to present a homeowner with the option of a clean installation with no damage to the existing structure but a loss of a couple of inches of opening space versus saving the space and requiring patchwork both inside and out, not to mention the additional time required to finish the job, I would imagine that the vast majority would choose the first option. My Instructional Video will show you how to do it in step by step detail. You can replace windows surrounded by brick, stone, stucco, or siding without any damage to the materials. The video shows how to replace old wood sash windows as well as metal windows. It covers removal, installation, sealing, and trimming. If you want to cover the exterior wood that surrounds the window opening without having to bend aluminum with a brake, I also sell an instructional video for that project. Stop replacing windows the primitive way and start making more money in less time, and have happier customers along the way.
