XO Horizontal sliding vinyl window. An OX would have the sliding panel on the opposite side.
XX Horizontal sliding vinyl window in which both panels slide open.Comes with a full screen.
Standard Sliding glass door.
XOX Horizontal slider. The center fixed panel is normally equal to 50% of the total opening.

Single hung vinyl window. The top half is fixed, the bottom half slides vertically.
Casement window. Unit opens out with the turn of a handle.

Bay window. Bow windows are similar, except they usually have more panel sections.

Awning window. Similar in design to the casement window, except the awning is hinged on top instead of on the side.

Half circle. The measurement from the bottom center to the top of the arch should equal half the width.

This example is the wider version, 1" wide. It also has some sculptured detail. This type is usually called sculptured grids.
Grid material used between the panes of glass. These are made of metal, and the one shown is referred to as colonial or flat. Usually 1/2 inch wide.
This is a fairly new grid option. It's a prism tape applied between the panes of glass. It's much more elegant looking than the traditional metal grids, and also more expensive.
This is the look of a typical grid pattern. Generally, the individual squares are approx. 12" square.
Here is an example of an optional grid pattern. This is a 6 lite marginal grid pattern. The name comes from the total number of squares in each window panel.
This example is called a 9 lite marginal grid pattern. Notice the 9 squares.

Here is an example of a replacement frame. The sides are flat, with no nailing fins or other protrusions.
Here is an example of a retrofit frame. The protruding lip is flush with the front or outside of the window. Its found mostly in the west, and used on homes with a stucco exterior.
