HOW TO
INSTALL WINDOWS

Section 1121 of the stimulus package allows homeowners to take a federal energy tax credit of up to 30% of the cost of the windows and doors installed, a maximum $1,500 for taxable years 2009 and 2010. To qualify, windows and doors must have a 0.30 U-factor and 0.30 Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) or better. The full line of PlyGem windows and standard sliding doors will meet or exceed these specs when the glass and spacer upgrades are applied.

The True French doors and French style sliding doors do not qualify for the tax credit at this time.

You can get complete information on the energy star portion of the Government stimulus by going to the Energy Star Website

Federal tax laws require you to have two items as proof that the windows actually qualified for the tax credit. First, each window comes with an NFRC sticker on the glass. The NFRC is an independent testing organization, so the U-Value and SHGC of each window has been independently verified. When you receive your windows, peel off each sticker and apply it to a piece of copy paper. Then, make copies and save them for your records.
The second item is a manufacturer's certification letter. Print out the letter and your particular model's specs.

It is not necessary to file these items with your tax return, but they will be required in case of an audit.
