The thickness of a typical finished wall is 5 3/8" thick, but most Vinyl Sliding Door frames are smaller than that. That means, when you install the door flush with the exterior wall of the house, the inside frame is short of being flush with the interior wall. The extension jamb product is a 3/4" X 1" rectangular Vinyl extrusion with adhesive tape on one narrow side and one wide side. This allows you to attach the jamb to the inside door frame, bringing it flush with the interior wall, so you can then apply your interior trim.

Flat trim now has deeper grooves on the back to make the job of reducing the width easier. The 2.25" can be trimmed to 2", and the 1.75" reduced to 1.5", 1.25", or 1" wide with less effort. The tape on the back is 3/4" wide.
